How Agarwood Oil Is Made - Factoy Duy Hai Agarwood

Agarwood essential oil, also known as oud oil, is one of the rarest and most valuable natural oils in the world. The most common and effective extraction method is steam distillation, a process that carefully captures the aromatic compounds found within resin-rich agarwood.

Because natural agarwood contains dense resin and valuable aromatic compounds, producing high-quality oud oil requires specialized equipment, experience, and carefully selected raw materials. For this reason, authentic agarwood oil is typically produced in dedicated distillation workshops rather than through simple home-based methods.

Selecting The Raw Material

The quality of agarwood oil begins with the selection of raw materials. Resin-rich agarwood, sinking agarwood, and high-grade agarwood powder are commonly used for distillation.

The higher the natural resin content, the richer and more complex the resulting oud oil aroma will be.

At Duy Hai Agarwood, we carefully select natural agarwood materials from Vietnam and Southeast Asia before processing them in our own agarwood oil workshop.

Preparing The Agarwood

Before distillation, the agarwood is processed into coarse powder or small pieces. This increases the surface area and allows the steam to interact more effectively with the resin-rich material during extraction.

Steam Distillation Process

The prepared agarwood is mixed with water and placed inside a specialized distillation system.

As the mixture is heated, steam carries the aromatic compounds and essential oils from the agarwood. The vapor then passes through a cooling system where it condenses back into liquid form.

This traditional process may take many hours or even several days depending on the material and desired oil quality.

Oil Separation & Collection

After condensation, the collected liquid contains both water and agarwood oil. The oil is carefully separated and filtered to preserve its natural aroma and purity.

The final product is a highly concentrated natural oud oil with a rich fragrance profile developed through years of natural resin formation.

Why Authentic Agarwood Oil Is So Rare

One reason agarwood oil is among the world's most expensive natural oils is its extremely low yield.

Large quantities of resin-rich agarwood may produce only a very small amount of pure essential oil. Combined with the rarity of high-quality natural agarwood, this makes authentic oud oil highly valued by collectors, perfumers, and agarwood enthusiasts worldwide.

Authentic Agarwood Oil From Vietnam

At Duy Hai Agarwood, we operate our own agarwood oil workshop and carefully distill natural oud oil using traditional methods and selected resin-rich materials.

The images and videos displayed on our website accurately represent the color, texture, and purity of the products you receive. We encourage customers to watch our product videos to better appreciate the natural viscosity, aroma character, and quality of each batch of agarwood oil we produce.

Our focus remains on authentic Vietnamese agarwood, traditional craftsmanship, and natural oud oil made from genuine agarwood materials.
