What is Near-Sinking (Semi-Sinking) Agarwood?
Near-sinking (semi-sinking) agarwood refers to a grade of natural agarwood with relatively high resin content and density, allowing it to nearly sink in water or sink partially depending on the piece.
This type of agarwood forms over many years as the Aquilaria tree produces resin in response to natural conditions. As resin accumulates, the wood becomes denser, darker in tone, and develops the characteristic fragrance of oud.
Compared to fully sinking agarwood (which is extremely dense and rare), near-sinking agarwood offers a balanced combination of quality and wearability. It typically features visible oil lines, moderate to high resin concentration, and a lighter weight that makes it more comfortable for daily use.
Because of this balance, near-sinking agarwood is one of the most popular choices for bracelets — offering both noticeable fragrance and practical wear.
A Story Behind the Piece
This bracelet begins far from the workshop — deep in the forests of Vietnam.
Our artisans and collectors spend months, sometimes over a year, searching for rare agarwood in its natural environment. Only with time, patience, and experience can a suitable piece be found. This bracelet was crafted from one such rare find.
Because it is formed naturally, the color and fragrance of agarwood remain stable over time. Each bead carries its own tone and scent — not manufactured, but shaped by nature itself.
Owning this piece is more than wearing a bracelet. It represents a material of rarity, a result of time and nature, and a small part of Vietnam’s long-standing agarwood heritage.
A unique piece, created once — and not easily found again.
Key Characteristics of Near-Sinking Agarwood
✔️ Higher resin content than regular (floating) agarwood
✔️ May partially sink or sink slowly in water
✔️ Visible oil veins and darker natural tones
✔️ Balanced density – not too heavy for daily wear
✔️ Naturally evolving aroma with warmth and depth
Aroma Profile
Near-sinking agarwood is known for its soft, warm, and slightly sweet woody scent.
The fragrance is not overpowering — instead, it develops gradually and becomes more noticeable with body heat, creating a subtle and personal aroma experience throughout the day.
Value & Rarity
Agarwood itself is rare in nature, and higher resin grades such as near-sinking or sinking are even more limited.
While not as scarce as fully sinking agarwood, near-sinking material is still highly valued for its quality, natural oil content, and accessibility compared to top-tier grades.
Use & Experience
Agarwood bracelets made from near-sinking material are widely appreciated for their natural fragrance and refined appearance.
Many people enjoy wearing them for their calming scent and the sense of connection to natural materials. Over time, the bracelet develops more character as it interacts with the wearer.
